Impact Investing Pioneers and Founding Partners of Veris Wealth Partners Retiring

SAN FRANCISCO, August 27, 2020 – Veris Wealth Partners, one of the nation’s leading impact wealth management firms that has approximately $1.5 billion in AUM, announced today the appointment of two new Partners, General Counsel Richard Chen and Chief Operating Officer, Stephanie Cohn Rupp, to help the firm grow and maintain its commitment to impact investing. The news comes in conjunction with the announcement of the retirement of two of the company’s Founding Partners, Steve Fahrer and Anders Ferguson at the end of this year.

Fahrer and Ferguson co-founded Veris Wealth Partners in 2007 with Partners Patricia Farrar-Rivas, CEO; Michael Lent, CIO; and David Hills who retired in 2017. The goal of helping individuals, families, and private foundations manage and grow their wealth in a way that aligns with their values. Veris invests in strategies focused on sustainability, social justice, gender lens investing, regenerative agriculture, climate solutions and other areas of impact.

Fahrer has provided sustainable investment advisory and wealth management services since 1994 specializing in financial consulting, portfolio management and community impact investing across all asset classes. Before joining Veris, Fahrer co-founded the New York office of Progressive Asset Management, the first full-service broker/dealer to focus on socially responsible investing. Ferguson began his career in impact as a social entrepreneur and financier, building sustainable companies and nonprofits since 1978. His work at Veris focused on firm strategy and building a robust marketing, thought leadership platform. He spent years leading Veris’ consulting for The Democracy Collaborative and Envestnet.

Chen is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School and an expert on investment adviser compliance and regulation, business structuring and transactions, private fund formation and cybersecurity preparedness. He has spent most of his career with some of the top multinational law firms in the world and is the founder and President of his own law firm, which is DOBE certified (“disability-owned business enterprise”).

Cohn Rupp is the Chief Operating Officer, focused on building further Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) at the firm and more generally in the sector of finance. She is the former Head of Impact Investing at two RIAs, and the former CEO of Toniic. She is a graduate of the LSE and Harvard Kennedy School and has been in the impact investing space for 20 years working in the US, Europe and Frontier Markets.
